Blue Dasher’s point their abdomen at the sun to stay cooler on hot sunny days. In this case, I was delighted to catch this Blue Dasher doing the Obelisk pose in front of a milkweed plant that mimicked his shape and added some nice colors. (the pink are it’s blooms). The bright spots are specular reflections from the deer exclusion fencing behind the milkweed plant. They provide some extra glamour treatment. (7D2, 180 mm macro, 1/125 s, f/14, iso 200, tripod)

Mark, what a nice capture. I too love how the milkweed mimics the dragonfly pose. Very nicely seen and captured.
Mark: Good luck comes to those who are prepared. Wonderful find and a serendipitous combination of elements. Most excellent. >=))>
The image of dragonfly is good as usual. Sharp throughout. What could be considered a distraction - the background oof milkweed leaves now makes the image, due to mimicking the shape of the foreground subject. Nice find and creatively managed.
