Another California Poppy

I was hoping to do a focus stack on these two at slightly different stages of opening but as soon as I got set up, the one in back started bending and moving, with the petals about to throw off the cap. The one on the left was still and stacked well but I had to replace the other with one of the single frames.

Is this a composite: Yes
Canon R5, Canon 100mm macro, f/14, ISO 400, 1/16 sec. Stack of 6. I stopped down so I wouldn’t have to stack so many, hoping to work quickly as the early morning calm was about to come to an end. The one on the right was composited from one of the single frames. Minor BG smoothing by low opacity cloning. Very minor tonal adjustments.

Diane, these “about to bloom” poppies are very striking with their tall multicolored hats. I do wish that the second one were in focus as I think the sharp pair would look very good. Getting to watch one shed it’s cap would be a fun observation even if it is hard to photograph.
