All comments welcome, and ID appreciated. I never knew there were so many kinds of bees…

Technical Details

Canon 5D2, Sigma 180mm macro, ISO 800, f/9.5, 1/180 sec, probably a tripod. Raw file updated to the new LR Process and slight Shadows adjustment. Into PS for denoise (barely needed) and some vignetting. Only a slight crop from top and left.

It seems to be a smallish bumblebee, Pyrobombus?

Oh what a sweetie - and rescued from the digital bin, too! Lovely soft fur and I like the contrast with the flower. Even with my bumblebee book it’s tough to ID her and she could be any number of species. The eye, mid and hind leg tibias are points of ID for different groups of bumblebees, but I can’t see enough of those bits to get anywhere. She sure is cute though and the sharpness is terrific to see all her fuzzy glory!

Diane, what a fine-looking bee and a really nice capture. The details are really great.

As others have noted, terrific detail. Good exposure, especially considering the brightness of the flower it’s on. Good work.
