Saw this couple in the garden today - the male is the upper one. It is quite likely the Small Bluetail (Ischnura pumilio).

Great capture, Mike. Love the composition with the Bluetails forming a wonderfully abstract shape. The details are spot on and the OOF background helps to emphasize the the dragonflies. Nicely done.

The most important 90% of the image is in the plane of focus. I think that a smaller aperture may have reduced the quality of the BG. An excellent artistic shot of a very challenging subject…Jim
