Breakfast of Monarch's

I found this Monarch caterpillar (looks like it’s probably a 5th stage instar, which means a chrysalis soon, if I can find it…) yesterday morning eating its “wheaties” after some overnight rain. This is only the 2nd Monarch cat. that I’ve seen this year so far and the first one disappeared long before it got to this size. (7D2, 180mm macro, 1/125 s, f/8, iso 800, 7 shot stack)

Mark, this is fabulous! Those raindrops with refractions on the Monarch Caterpillar is really icing on the cake, for sure. This is where the stacking pays off. When are you doing the webinar? I signed up for it, but I don’t see anything on the site about it now. I just don’t know if I will ever have the patience, but I am hoping you will show me how easy it is. Again, this is really an excellent image.

A terrific look at this cat and, as Shirley mentioned, the water droplets add to the scene. I, too have seen only two Monarch caterpillars this year, and they have both disappeared.

Simply awesome, with the water droplets! I’m speechless.
