Critique Style Requested: Standard

The photographer is looking for generalized feedback about the aesthetic and technical qualities of their image.

Description

My garden is filling fast and I am trying to capture as much of the growing process as possible.

Specific Feedback

I chose a tall format to emphasize the slender stalk and delicate bud but wonder if it is too tall.

Technical Details

Z7 II 100-400 @400mm, f/8, 1/800 (a bit on the breezy side), ISO 500

Mostly in ACR with some TK frequency separation and clarity adjustments.

Hi Chris,

What a wonderfully clean Bud Light image!

My thought on the framing is to put the top 1/3 of the bud at the top 1/3 mark of the frame, but leave the bottom as it is.

Just my 2 cents as they say.

I’m enjoying your spring garden growth images.

Lovely sharpness and light! My feeling would be to crop a lot from the top and bottom. Watch these buds earlier, just as the first of the clump of buds starts to split the casing. With a few of the buds, there are some incredible macros to be had then. I thought I had posted some here but don’t find them. I’ll dig up one and post.
