Cold Gold

What technical feedback would you like if any? Any

What artistic feedback would you like if any? I am always trying to find the balance between the subject and its environment. I feel like the golden eagle may be too small in this image but I don’t want to lose the incredible layering of the sandstone. Suggestions?

Any pertinent technical details: Canon 1DX M2, 600mm lens w/1.4 x, f/6.3, ISO 200, 1/320 sec

This is a nice environment shot, but I agree with your thought that the eagle is too small. You might try cropping this more to just have the sandstone, though I guess that would depend on the image quality of the eagle at such a crop. I also agree with you that this is a very interesting rock formation.

Thanks Allen. I can crop in quite a bit since it is full size right now but I guess, like you said, it depends how much allows me to retain the quality of the eagle and still give a sense of his environment.

At the scale you can show it here, I can’t think of too much you can do to emphasize the eagle more, Kathy. It looks like you may already have brought up the brightness and saturation of it a bit. You might get it just a bit more. My main suggestion would be to have it printed very large! If you have enough detail in the bird it would look incredible.

Thank you Dennis. I like how you think!
