A while ago a young Cuckoo hung around not too far from where I live. Although I didn’t particularly like the branch, it was one of the best perches out there. Thanks for any comments ! Cheers, Hans

What a striking bird! The feathers are so beautiful and that eye ring! I’ve never seen a cuckoo, but I think we have them in North America. I don’t mind the branch, it is big, but simple and I don’t feel it detracts. It looks like there was a breeze or the bird was ruffling it’s plumage a little. Nice catch.
Hi Hans
Thank you for the Cuckoo, it is my first time see one. I agree with Kristen about the branch, The coloring , eye contact and framing are great. I notice the upper right wing looks a little flat. If the sun’s angle is very low, I sometimes get this effect, when I am photographing big blue. Over all this is a very nice photograph.

All the elements have come together to make a wonderful image. Great pose from the bird, good stick and a background to die for. Your processing is lovely.
I like the frame as is. Would you consider another version of the frame with a super-thin border line and a very subtle drop shadow?
I am enjoying the soft lighting which has brought out the rich colors in the feathers… The BG is especially nice too. The branch looks good and I think that with the ends going out of focus, it helps the comp as well. Awesome shot…Jim
