The Gray Catbird winters in Florida and is rather hard to photograph, as it spends its time skulking around in thick foliage. I managed to get this photograph in the low light of morning last week while this bird, a late migrant, was stoking up under our bird feeders for the flight north to its breeding grounds somewhere between southern Georgia and southern Ontario.
Sony a7 III w/Sony 100-400mm at 315mm, hand-held, manual exposure f/5.6 @ 1/160th, ISO 2000. This is only a slight crop. The bird was startled at the sound of the electronic shutter, so I only got off a few images before it flew.
