Sitting on the deck the other day and I noticed this hawk had just flown in and perched on a nearby tree. By the time I went to get my camera the bird had flown off. My wife saw it had dropped down toward the beach so I went down with hopes to find it. Checking out the shoreline I noticed the bird about 10 meters in front of me on an exposed rock, crabbing.

I really like the position/action of the bird. Having separation from the rocks and prey in it’s talons is a plus. Great focus. No complaints here.
This is just great!! It may make a cool B&W, too.
Very cool “flight” shot, Chuck. The depth of field is perfect to get the foreground, bird and crab all sharp.
Have you moved there, or are you just avoiding a Vermont winter?
Hi Dennis,
I stopped skiing a few years back and now prefer to get out from the harsh winters-been a good call this year!
