Never Ending Battle

This photo was taken on the first morning of a 3 day/2 night backpacking trip to Pictured Rocks in October. We were very fortunate to time the fall colors almost perfectly in that area.

The site we camped at the previous night was no more than a minute walk back up the sand dune behind where I took this photo. It was quite a windy morning creating some powerful waves on the lake. The sun kept trying to break through the clouds, but only lit up the sandstone cliffs for a few seconds, which I failed to capture.

Regardless of the lack of light, I ended up loving this photo, which went on to be my favorite from the trip.

Very nice image, Vincent. I like all the layers here and the fall color is an added bonus. I saw similar color in Door Co., Wisconsin in October.
