Pampas Grass

Pampas grass is a common name which may refer to any of several similar-looking, tall-growing species of grass. They are indigenous to South America but have been imported to North America. They are prodigious and now are considered invasive weeds.

Yeah, they’ve taken over a lot of good ecosystems, unfortunately. They are attractive though so I see why people thought they were a good idea. Your photo shows this well.
