Pygmy nuthatch possible juvenile

With toned down greens

I had to go down to San Diego to find this one. The backgrounds of out of focus red sandy hills
are so different than the Pacific Northwest greenery.

Enjoying the color palette from this image. Pose of the bird is very nice. Might consider toning down the moss on the branch just a bit.

Hi David, this is a great shot but you have the bird ID wrong, it’s a Pygmy Nuthatch. Really like the blurred background and the little green lichens.

A sweet image, David. I really like that background. Excellent job on the bird and perch.

Yeah, I got a little confused. But you are correct. It is a Pygmy. And I was shooting both species at the same time.

Hi David
The red sandy hills, make for a nice background. You did a good job the exposure and framing of this Nuthatch. Kieth has a point about the bright moss.

Lovely portrait of the bird, with great lighting and detail. But I find the contrast on the perch distracting, even after toning down the lichen. (The sun is more intense down there…) Should be possible to address that without changing the bird.

I think your muscle memory hit the region wrong…
