Specific Feedback and Self-Critique
This is a color image but wondering if B/W would be better aesthetically. I was initially attracted to this spot by the hole and the way the water was emerging from it.
Hi Mario, I’ve always liked these kinds of stream/river closeups. Nice one here too. I like it in color, but I am also a huge fan of B&W so it might be interesting to see what that looks like.
I think your comp works well. the upper white leads me to the lower left corner. The dark hole is a mystery and I like that a lot.
Hi Mario,
what a beautiful small scene. I can hear the water rushing.
I like the shapes of the water and the fact that there is still some texture in it because of the well-chosen shutter speed.
In all the years I’ve spent seeking out intimate flowing water scenes like this, I can’t say I’ve ever seen anything like this. Depending on one’s point of view, the water could be either flowing out of, or in to that black hole. I’m pretty sure I know the reality of the scene, but it’s what that is implied that makes this little scene so very dynamic and engaging.
I think you have enough room and additional water detail up top to give the scene some context. I think this all “flows” together quite nicely.
Can’t really think of much you could improve upon this. I suppose - and photographer’s choice… bump up the vibrance and/or clarity/contrast? But those would be minor tweaks, if any needed at all.
I think b&w would be a viable option provided the contrast and tonal range worked in favor. Worth a try!
