Robber fly

When I saw this guy I thought “What in tarnation ?!?” . Turns out is a robber fly or Diogmites

Is this a composite: No

Eddie, I think the title should have been “what in tarnation”, but Robberfly works too. :grinning:

Excellent capture of him. Nice details where it counts. I wish the out of focus leaf in front wasn’t there, but hey, trying to get at an angle without scaring him off, we don’t always get to have everything perfect. I couldn’t help but smile, the holes eaten into the leaf below and to the right as well, looks like part of numbers 1, 2 and 5! I do love the browns against the greens too.

Hi,
Your comp looks pretty good and the fly looks sharp. I wish that the OOF leaf was not in the foreground, but it is not a deal breaker. You can also tone down the saturation of the greens slightly too. BG looks good. Well done…Jim
