Shedding New Spring Snow

I’m afraid my “Signs of Spring” photos are going to look a little different than most others. Other than longer daylight we don’t resemble anything remotely like Spring right now. The first hints of real Spring happen in late April to early March and we don’t see any blooming until late May to early June. We still get snowfall in May but the temperatures are beginning to stay above freezing so the snow starts melting and shedding off the mountains. This photo is one of those shedding periods in May of 2018.

Compared to some of you winter shots of these mountains, Gary, this looks positively tropical.

It doesn’t look much like spring, but it does look good!

You seem to have caught the shedding perfectly, Gary - there’s certainly a sense of fluidity in the snow. Nicely composed.

Gary, this is a fine catch on the melting snow, with the details on the sides of the peaks showing the melt/flow/avalance tracks very well. A fine display of careful observation and local knowledge. Yes, “spring” means different things to different parts of the world, thanks for pointing that out.

Gary, This must be viewed large to appreciate the scale, detail, and textures you have captured. Also and sky and fog add nice mood to the image. Great shot.
