This is a 9 shot stack of a Spring Beauty (Claytonia virginica) growing in a local park. These carpet the floor of many local natural areas. They very from an almost pure white to ones like this with significant amounts of pink and magenta in the petal stripes. This is a nearly life size view, with the flowers being about an inch across.

Beautiful detail in this little jewel, Mark. Our relative out here seems to have smaller flowers (Usually around 1/2 inch in my experience). I wonder if you could have gotten rid of the surface shine by shading it? Still a beautiful image of a flower few people bother with.
Can’t find anything to suggest for improvement. I personally like how the sheen on the petals accentuates the magenta lines. Great detail, smooth unobtrusive background and perfect placement in the frame.
I like the bg here, Mark, and the capture of the flower centre is perfect. The various shades of the stamens, splayed in their different directions, make for a very jolly image.
