Wizards Sunstar

This shot is from this past October on Bandon Beach in Oregon. I was there with a workshop group and I took them down to the beach on multiple occasions, but on this night, we arrived ahead of the actual sunset to enjoy the fantastic golden light that had been happening the past few days well ahead of sunset. It’s this golden light, low angled, that I find can be the most productive in terms of playing with shadows and light, accentuating lines in the sand or backlighting the waves. I think this is perhaps my most favorite time, more so than the actual sunset.

Anyways, we arrived at the beach and stopped dead in our tracks as I noticed the sun about to pass along the Wizards Hat and knew that we could snag a sunstar here. So a few of us set up and shot this fantastic scene.

Ah, John, you nailed the sunstar perfectly. That GF lens does nice work with the sunstars. I really like the comp and stacking of the sea stacks too. Well done, sir.

Thank you so much @David_Bostock! I was happy to share the moments there with you.
