One of the big drawbacks in Lightroom has been saving large files. You could save them as PSBs but they would not be visible in your browser. With the latest update, you can now save very large files as PSBs and they show up in the browser. Yay!

Strange that you don’t seem to need to synchronize to add them, they are just there.
