American Robin

Image Description

The Robins are becoming active and this is the only tree in bloom in the area.

Specific Feedback and Self-Critique

I’d like to see more of the robin, but decided to post this as it seemed to fit the category well.

Hello, this is a great image! I love that I cannot see more of the robin…this tells the story of spring, soft colours, and birds hiding in a tree. The pink and orange are very interesting together. The “v” of the branches frames the robins head nicely (though ideally I wish the beak wasn’t so close to the branch).

Hi Allen, well conceived and done, almost a high-key image. There are always many shots showing the full bird, so this is a nice change of pace, showing “hiding” behavior as birds often do to avoid predators. The blurry petals (cherry tree?) and V-shaped branches provide a great frame for him.

Nothing says Spring like the arrival of the Robin! I, too like that we can’t see the entire bird and the high key background concentrates the eye on the subject. Always a plus when you can frame a bird with flowers. Good choice for the Challenge.
