I’ve been trying a few non-conventional compositions in my macro work this summer. For this one, I like the added color that came with including the main bloom and I feel that there’s a nice visual balance between the DF and the closed bloom. I cut off the bloom to reduce it’s visual impact slightly, plus it puts the dasher in a strong visual spot in the frame.

I like this, Mark. A nice break from the usual tighter shot on the dragonfly, and a little more of his environment. Usually we see them on a stem or limb, or something not so pretty as this bloom. I think it balances nicely, and adds color to the frame. Nice DOF.
Mark: Great light and wonderful color palette. My only suggestion would be to crop the flower a tiny bit tighter to eliminate that green triangle in the RLC and leave the size of the bloom undisclosed. Superbly crafted image.>=))>
