Brief moonless moment outside Moab

Specific Feedback Requested: Any constructive feedback welcome! I’m really looking to improve my night sky photography chops.

About this image:

I’ve been fighting the moon this week.

Don’t get me wrong it’s beautiful, but it’s rise just a few minutes after sundown has made capturing the tail end of the Milky Way challenging with all its bright mooniness.

Well last night the moon for a reason I do not know (if you do let me know!) didn’t rise at the same time. That gave me a solid half hour to snap this. Great last night at Onion Creek!

I like the detail in the core and there appears to be some air glow (greenish color) as well. Have you considered taking a separate frame for the foreground? That way you can take a longer exposure and a lower ISO to get some detail rather than a silhouette. Regarding the moon, it’s rise time gets later each day.
