Ric, going to high contrast black & white lets the shapes of the trees stand out, especially the larger ones in the front. The scattering of diagonals adds a nice bit of motion to the strong verticals.

Really nice B&W and the verticals of the trees make for some wonderful graphic elements, Ric. My only suggestion would be to clone out the dark section of tree in the URC and a couple of bright limbs and a stump toward the LRC. Nice scene.
