I purchased this orchid for my wife’s mothers day about 15 years ago from Home Depot. We put several ice cubes in the pot once a week. I made this image by setting the pot on the deck railing with dark woods as a background. My favorite light late afternoon.

Oh wow this is so striking. I love that you chose to show the back of the flower for a change of pace. The completely dark background makes this feel like a studio shot which works for this since it’s an exotic. The light brings up so much texture. Nicely done!

Long ago I was a product photographer. This was natural light but the commercial training must still be with me. I graduated form Brooks Institute in the early 70s, I wonder if there are any other Brooks alumni on the site.
