I was exploring a new location on the shore of lake Erie and came across this scene in the morning. The light was fairly flat but the dramatic sky lead me to process in B&W and increase the contrast.
Specific Feedback Requested
Any feedback welcome. I was wondering if the ice is too dark but I like the contrast with the skiffs of snow.

This looks great to me Bryan, for the reason you mentioned. I also think the contrast of the water creates a nice “platform” for the tree and sky to rest upon.
For me this image makes great use of negative space, I like the amount of sky you included, and where you placed the tree. The sky has enough texture and contrast to be pretty interesting, without overpowering the tree. Overall, I really like this image very much as presented, I wouldn’t change anything about it.
