This juvenile was practicing the fine art of diving into the water, in hopes of catching a fish. So far the only thing it came up with was mud. The photograph was on July 26 at 7:15 AM on the Back River.

Is this a composite: No
Canon R5, Canon 100-500mm F10, 700mm, +.3 EV, 1/2000, ISO 1000. The shot was cropped by 70% into a 16 by 9 and the highlights, micro-contrast and vibrancy were adjusted in DXO Photo Lab 4.

Very good action pose. Nice facial detail. I like your crop/composition.

Wonderful timing and great detail! The droplets and the disturbed water tell the story. So nice that the ripples hadn’t yet disturbed the reflection.

I’d be inclined to take a little more off the top and right.
