Three Susans

The black eyed susans are in their full mid-August glory in my garden. I spotted these three about-to-bloom blossoms and this weekly challenge came to mind.

Technical Details

Shot on a tripod with a Canon EOS 80D / EF-S55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM.

ISO 200, 250 mm, 1/400 sec, f/5.6

Minor edits in Lightroom to improve the range of tones and some cropping.

I like this! The buds are very interesting, as is the unusual composition. The curved line of the three buds does invite the corners to be balanced by the more mature blooms. I’m admittedly guilty of over-arranging things, but I wonder if the top flower could have been pushed down to better fill the open area below it, with its center, similar to the other one, just partially showing. (I know – easy to say…) Or maybe another mature OOF flower could have been “planted” in that space, smaller, in the BG.

Some cleanup of the LL corner would leave that bottom bud feeling less crowded by the frame.

Thanks @Diane_Miller! I appreciate your comments and suggestions. Completely agree about the top and lower left corners
