The textures on this tree bark appealed to me, and I found the color transitions as the bark peeled away to be interesting.

Interesting image Chris. At first glance I thought it was a map. I think this would also work well with a square crop focusing more on the two bottom parts.
Another fun find, Chris. The mix of base colors in the bark is very interesting and the bit of peeling is a fine addition. As a semi-abstract, I think the reduced contrast in the top 1/3rd reduces it’s interest slightly.
I like this. Reminds me of a flag, especially if you turned it sideways. The textures and differences in color are so striking. You could add some contrast to the top to balance the bottom section, but the gradation is part of the story of the bark so I don’t mind it. The peeling bit is a nice bit as well.
